Effective C ommunication

Effective communication skills are important when running an organization. The director of the company I work for has these skills. When I was first hired I went through orientation. My director, David, spoke to the group the first day. He was clear when describing his expectations of us. He spoke eloquently and was prepared while remaining lighthearted and entertaining. He was motivational, encouraging and uplifting. Since then I have listened to him speak on more than one occasion and I experience the same thing. He listens when someone asks a question, answers it completely while remaining respectful. I would model my communication behaviors after David. He is effective, respectful and prepared in his communication. He is engaging and motivational. His ability to communicate with several different disciplines on the same topic is a great skill. These are skills I strive to have when I communicate with others.

  1. I guess we know why David is the director he sounds very knowledgable and communicates effectively. It is wonderful that you have someone that communicates well and is in charge in the workplace. Unfortunately, I do not have as good as luck at my place of emplyment as my director can be very manipulative and vulgar trying to speak as a friend instead of the context of a professional in charge. I always say the lines of communication should never be crossed in the workplace because no one will ever take you seriously.

  2. Sounds like you have a great director that is a great communicator and respectful as a person. It is good to know that there are directors that care and love their jobs. When you have a great communicator as a leader that is the main key in making a great workplace. When the lines of communication are great, you can go to him about anything and he will listen without judging you.
