"All kids are gifts, some just open their packages earlier than others".

"All kids are gifts, some just open their packages earlier than others."

                                                                             -- Michael Carr

Being a special education teacher this quote has always held a special place in my heart. For my students it may take years to communicate, show affection or make friends. But when that day comes it is an amazing accomplishment and I consider myself so lucky to have played a small part in it.  It is the small things that make the biggest impact. :-)

  1. I like this quote because I was one of those children. At the age of six I was labeled as a "failure to strive" child. I was nine years old when I realized that I can learn and read. I started reading everything that I could get my hands. Of all the positive support that I recieved it was the love and care from my 4th grade teacher. She was one of the people who changed my life.

  2. You are lucky indeed, to have such passion and understanding for the type of work that you do. For unlike any other area in the field of education, children with special needs are truly a gift that hasn’t been opened and require patience and lots of TLC to help them open up and release their wonder. Thank you for such an inspirational quote.
